Imster Gorge - Imst-Haiming, Tirol , Austria , Alpes, Europe

How to get there: Contact Natur Pur (www.rafting-canyoning.de) or any tourist information close to Imst, Haiming or Sautens in Tirol

Haiming and Imst are on the banks of the Tyrolean Inn and they are easy to reach, lying directly on the autobahn between Innsbruck and Landeck. It is a centre for some of the best rivers in Austria so is home to many rafting companies

River description: Class II and III. The river Inn in Austria is the ideal rafting playground. It is also the most popular and significant river for white water sports in the alpine region. It is characterized by spectacular big wild water without any visible rocks and boulders between the city of Imst and the village of Haiming . Due to the width of the river and no large obstacles this can be considered a 'safe river' from start to finish in most times. The huge amounts of water flowing down in spring and early summer, creates awesome waves and stoppers, changing your rafting tour into an unforgettable adventure.

Chagres River - Northeast of Panama City, Panama, Central America, past Cerro Azul Mountains.

How to get there:
Contact Aventuras Panama or else be ready to contract an extreme 4x4 vehicle and driver, mules and labor to get gear through a jungle trail, and a motor boat piragua to get out when the river encounters Madden Lake.  Usually from june through january it is possible to shorten the way to Chagres River by putting in at Rio Piedras, its tributary. 

River description: Class II and III.  It is not only  rafting but a jungle experience.  It is the closest remote jungle out of Panama City: Chagres National Park.  Commercial trips are usually more than 12 hrs, starting at 5:00 am and returning around 7:00 pm.  The trip is called the Chagres Challenge and there is no other way to make it shorter.  With out having the logistics set up by a third party it could take you up to 2-3 days to do this journey.

Tara and Drina Rivers - Bosnia & Herzegovina

How to get there
: near the City of Foca.

River Description: the canyon of the river Tara is one of the most deepest in the world. Then, the river Tara is the biggest reservoir of the drinking water in Europe. The rafting journey is very exciting and its 120 kilometers long with a numbered of falls and water rapids.

Kicking Horse River in Golden British Columbia Canada

How to get there: Located in Golden British Columbia (The Canadian Rockies). Best transportation is via the Calgary International airport and via car.

River Description –Rapids grades run from 2 to 4 plus. Mostly continuous rapids. The Kicking Horse River is a designated Canadian Heritage River, a status only a small percentage of rivers in Canada are fortunate enough to receive.

Rana River in North of Norway

The Rana River is in the North of Norway in Mo i Rana, The river stars about 80 km north at the Arctic Circle

The best way to get here is to fly to Bodo or Mo i Rana. The river is runable from end of Mai to end of September. The high water period is normaly in mid June.

The river is mainly a pool and drop width som continous parts. Depending of water level grade 2 - 6. Rana is quite big volume river and on high water you have some nasty wirlpools and eddy lines. Normaly easy scouting and portage.

Romania

The Romanian Adventure Center offer for 2005 includes the new program for extreme sports, x-sports. Activities are organized in the Western part of the Romanian Carpathians, more precisely in the mountains which are guarding the Narrow path of the river Jiu (44 km), Retezat, Valcan, Parang.

This region has a unique potential regarding practicing mountain sports. Here you can find fast water, water falls and mountain lakes, ideal places for  practicing rafting, kayak-canoe and  scuba diving, but also a large number of caves and calcareous forms (Polovragi, Pestera Muierilor, Izverna) where there are organized cave-diving activities and descends in caves. There is also an excellent system of escalating paths, situated on narrow keys dug by rivers, with vertical walls, with different degrees of difficulty for climbing, which makes it doable for every category of climbers, advanced or even beginners. "X-sports" is addressing all fans or extreme sensations, movement and extreme adventure, no matter the age or level of athletic preparation

Rafting . the crossing of the narrow path of the river Jiu on the course of which there are water falls and waters running at high speed. The  descend is made in boats of 6 persons.

Dalaman River Mugla Turkey

The Dalaman River is in southwest Turkey . about 1,5 hours from the tourist resorts of Marmaris and Fethiye, 3 hours from Bodrum and Kas..

Dalaman Airport is the nearest airport which is served by charter flights from all over Europe during the months May to October. The river base is 50 km’s from the Airport.

The Dalaman River used to have three sections that were suitable for rafting. Due to construction of a dam in finished in 2001, we still have two sections left.  The put in is reached by driving up into the mountain and experiencing real Turkish village scenery. Since 2007 this section has been dam release.

The main rafting river, low volume technical pool drops, is generally class 3 but with one class 4 rapid. The high water season is April to May but the river is runnable all year round.

The trip about 3 / 3,5 hours and it is suitable for rafts and kayaks.

The third section of the river is about the same length, starting further upstream. This headwater trip has been described by someone who know as some of the best technical rafting to be had. The main section is about 2 kms long of class 4 / 4+.  This part of the river is usually done as an overnight trip. At the start of this section another dam has been started in Nov 2008.

Jacques-Cartier River in Québec, Canada

How to get here: Located 30 minutes in car from Quebec City. Fly to Quebec City Airport and then call New Wave Expeditions to take arrangement for transportation.

River description: The Jacques-Cartier River takes its source in the Jacques-Cartier Lake in the Laurentians Park. It runs 177km to the St-Lawrence River near Donnacona. Four sections of this river make up the daily fare of New Wave Expeditions. The most renowned section is called Tewkesbury. Rapids grades run from 2 to 5 with drops and this section is recommended for rafting and advanced paddlers.

Mreznica river- city of Slunj, Karlovac region, Croatia

The river Mreznica iz located near the city of Slunj, in the Karlovac region.  To get to it  one must take the D1 road through Slunj to Kukački and Ogulin towards Primišlje and drive until you reach the bridge over the river Mreznice, where there is a road next to the bridge going into the Canyon park Vrela Mreznice. It is located 18km from Slunj.

Slunj was the host town for the 2008. Euro rafting cup held in april, and it will be again as it offers the best conditions for such an event.

Best way of transport is private transport or commercial- bus. The nearest aeroport is in Zagreb, a 2 hour drive.

The river is one of the most beautifull in all Croatia, with amazing scenery, small waterfalls, kaskades, canyonns and so on. It's runnable from may to september and best for rafting and kayaking. High water period is normally in mid may. The trip lasts for up to 3 hours.

Company running it: Slunjčica d.d. for tourism and hospitality from the city Slunj. The company has a 50 year old tradition in tourism in this region. It offers kamping and water sports in it's new Canyon park Vrela Mreznice, hospitality in it's Pansion Park and great gastronomy offers in it's restaurants.

How to get there: Fly into Hokitika, rent a car or take a shuttle bus to the town of Karamea . Raftable year round.

River description: Helicopter access wilderness Grade 5, Big water pool drop, long continuous rapids, average flows of 150 cumecs. Long rapids with some portages. There are 2 sections, 1 day heli access and a 3 day heli access, world class trout fishing. Good for oar frames, paddle rafts, catarafts, kayaking.

Coruh River ( Pronounced as Chrouh ), North East Turkey

How to get there: 
Nearest town is Erzurum. public transport or commercial companies - Intercity Bus service and THY (Turkish Airlines) Flight between 2 and 6 daily flights from Istanbul daily *** best  Fl No 662

River description: 
Grade 4/5 Pool-drop, continuous. Best for raft, 8 person paddle rafts with guide. kayak: experienced grade 5 kayakers. Terrain it goes through: Coruh flows through spectacular canyons and narrow, fertile valleys of orchards and tiny paddy fields, past ancient ruined castles, all set against a backdrop of magnificent rugged mountains.

Coruh River can best be run in 5 days, each day offering a different section. Highlights include Ispir Gorge, Grade 5 Yusefeli Gorge and Barhal tributary. Sections of Coruh are being dammed. This classic high water river is best run in May/June.  8 person paddle rafts and experienced grade 5 kayakers will enjoy Coruh.

Coruh flows through spectacular canyons and narrow, fertile valleys of orchards and tiny paddy fields, past ancient ruined castles, all set against a backdrop of magnificent rugged mountains and additional day of walking can be added to the programme.

Length of trip 4-6 Days
