1) WORLD RAFTING CHAMPS 2005: Quijos river,Ecuador,12-16 Oct.
Overall results attached; Full results at:

Congratulations go to RUSSIA men and Czech women who are the new World
Rafting Champions! Well done to ALL teams!
The event began with the USA men taking first place in the Sprint, with
Canada and Russia close behind. In the women's section the New Zealander's
took Sprint honours with Slovakia and Norway in 2nd and 3rd.
Russia performed very well in the Slalom to clinch a solid first place for
the men with Brasil and Germany take a close 2nd and 3rd. The Czech women
took a convincing first in Slalom with Slovakia 2nd and Australia 3rd.
The deciding event, Downriver was won convincingly by the Czech men but this
was not enough to overtake the Russians (3rd) for first place. Germany took
2nd place in the Downriver which unfortunately did not get them the 3rd
place overall that were hoping for the. The USA, although only coming 4th in
the Downriver, managed to hang onto 3rd place overall. The Czech women
sealed their World Champs status by winning the Downriver, with NZ achieving
2nd in the downriver and overall. Slovakia's 4th place in the downriver
secured them a 3rd place overall.
A HUGE thank you must go to Steve Nomchong and all his volunteers that made
the event happen in a most succesful way.
