Continental Events

Coming Continental Champs - 2008

Please note: 
  • Only countries who are up-to-date members can attend continental champs. Contact IRF administration to confirm whether your country is eligible to send teams.
  • There is a fee of $75 per team that attends Continental events. This is instead of membership fees.
  • Each member country is allowed to send their TOP TWO men's and TOP TWO women's teams.
  • AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPS
    Japan wins bid to host the 2008 Australasian Champs! The event will be held on the Nagara river, Japan . Event dates are 11-13 October, 2008.  

    Congratulations to the Japan Rafters Federation and the Nagaragawa Whitewater Festival Organising Committee.  

    Thank you to Federasi Arung Jeram Indonesia/Faji (Indonesia Rafting Federation) and  PB & Pengda Sumut Faji for their bid to host the event on the Asahan River , North Sumatra, Indonesia .

  • EURO CHAMPS 
    Austria will be holding the event from the 13th to 19th May 2008 on the Salza River in the Wildapen Styria area. The hosts are Sk Wildapen.
    For the first time ever the Euro Champs will see R4 and R6 events taking place at the same event. Although this has been done for Euro Cup events, it has never been done for Euro Champs.

  • PAN AMERICAN CHAMPS
    Argentina will be hosting the 2008 Champs. The event is to be hosted by teh Asociacion Argentina de Rating and will be held from 25 to 30 November 2008 on the Mendoza, Atuel and Diamante Rivers.

  • AFRICA 
    At this stage their is no official African Champs.

Euro Cup

  • The link to the Euro Cup schedule is here otherwise keep an eye on the European Rafting website for all news and schedules for the Euro Cup and other Euro events.

  • Results for 2007 and before can be found on the results page

  • Euro Cup started in 2003 with 4 events and 53 teams (37 mens, 16 womens), R6 only. In 2004 it expanded to include R4. By 2006 it had grown to 8 events for R6 and 5 for R4 with 93 teams attending the R6 events and 134 for the R4. 12 countries attended these events.

Previous Continental Champs

  • Australasian Champs were held in Japan in 2001.
  • Euro Champs have been held in Europe since 2000 (Italy). In 2002 they were held in Germany (Sprint and Slalom on the artificial course in Augsburg) and Austria (downriver). In 2005 Bosnia & Herzegovina very successfully held the first R4 Euro Champs. 2006 the R6 Euro Champs were held in Russia.
  • Latin American Champs were held in 1999 in Costa Rica and then Pan American Champs were held in 2006, once again in Costa Rica.
