The national rafting championship in Colombia will be the 17, 18, 19 October of 2008, on the Fonce river. The two best teams can participate in the Pan American Champs in Argentina from the 25 - 29 November 2008.

RUSSIA

RUSSIA YOUTH OPEN-2008

                               ( Republic of Karelia , Shyua River , 1-7 July)

  Russia is pleased to announce All-Russia Youth Rafting Champs-2008 open to all international youth teams.  It’s a pilot project aimed to initiate developing of rafting among young sportsmen in the world. On the completion of the competitions  we can share the views on organizing major youth rafting events in the future

Dates: 1-7 July, 2008

Teams: Any international teams are welcome.

Location: 30 km distance from Petrozavodsk – Capital of Republic of Karelia. Pls. refer to: http://www.ticrk.ru/  and go  to English link

Group ages: 15- 16 and 17-18 years old

River:  

Shuya River  is medium volume plain river with numerous local rapids, waves, eddies etc. Grade II.  Water level is even throughout the year due to the system of lakes belonging to river basin.

Entry fee: None.   

Race format: R6-R4, Time Trial, H2H, Slalom, Downriver.

Travel: Host town is Petrozavodsk . Nearest International airport – S.Petersbourg. Better to travel to S.Petersbourg change to a night train “S.Petersbourg-Petrozavodsk” with arrival on the next day morning. We will transfer international teams to the venue.  Appr. cost of  travel in 4 berth compartment is around 50 USD.

It’s possible to travel from Moscow with a change to a night train Moscow – Petrozavodsk and morning arrival to Petrozavodsk . Appr. cost of travel in 4 berth compartment from Moscow -80 dollars.

Please note – July is high season(the time of white nights) and tickets should be booked well in advance.

Boarding and bordering:

For the teams registered by April 25 meals, accommodations(camping) and transport during competitions is free. Please bring your own tent.

There is a possibility to stay in a budget accommodations near camping area. The cost  of a double room for two persons is  25 dollars per night.

Registration: closed on May 30.

Please note: for most of the countries visa is required, that is why registration period is limited to May 30 

Rafts and equipment:

Official raft will be “Timetrial” -   14 feet self bailing, 3 thwarts.

Teams are responsible for their own PFD, paddles, paddling clothing, throw bags and additional paddling accessories that might be required.  Water temperature is about 18- 20 C and air temperature  is about 14- 26 C .

Insurance: It is recommended that competitors get their own International travel insurance.

• July 1  – teams registration. Official training
• July 2  -official training, cultural program(Excursion to Kiji temple – masterpiece of wooden architecture or excursion to Petrozavodsk )
• July 3  –  Time trial R 6, R 4.
• July 4  – H2H race R6, R 4
• July 5 – Slalom R 6, R 4
• July 6  –  Downriver  R 4
• July 7 -  Downriver R 6

16-00 – Prize giving Ceremony. Transfer to railway station to travel to S. Petersbourg or other destination.

The Chinese Water Sports Administration will be runnning two events in 2008 - 

April 28th- 29th --- Internationanl Rafting Competition in Qingyuan city near Guangzhou.   The team will be composed with one leader and two rafters. We will invite 8-10 teams. More info here

Around June 20th ---International Rafting Competition in Sichuan, southwest of China. We would like to invite 5 to 8 teams composed one team leader and two rafters.

This year the Ekstremsportveko and the Worlds in Korea is at the same time. This means we won’t run a Euro cup competition. There will be a one day downriver raft race at Friday 29. June. The raft race will be a part of a multi sport Nissan Challenge.

This year the official International Austrian Rafting Competition and part of the European Cup will take place on the river Salza in Styria at the weekend of 16.-20. Mai 2007.
The event is an official competition of the Austrian Canoe Association OKV
(Österreichischer Kanuverband).
There will be championships for both categories R4 and R6 and they are part of the European Cup 2007.
The championship organisation Sportklub Wildalpen invites all Rafting friends to this event.
Last year there were 34 R6 and 60 R4 teams from 12 nations on the start.
This race is a perfect possibility of comparison with other European teams and also a good training for the European Rafting Championship 2008, which will be at this location.

Heuer finden zum 6-mal die offiziellen Osterreichischen Raftingmeisterschaften, im Rahmen des Osterreichischen Kanuverbandes OKV auf der Salza/Steiermark statt.
Der Sportklub Wildalpen / Sektion Paddeln veranstaltet diesen Event vom 16.-20. Mai 2007 in Wildalpen und lädt alle Rafting und Sportinteressierten dazu herzlich ein.
Neben der offiziellen Osterreichischen Meisterschaft in R4 wird die Kategorie R6 durchgeführt. Beide Bewerbe zählen zum Europacup 2007.
Letztes Jahr waren 34 R6 und 60 R4 Mannschaften aus 12 Nationen am Start.
Die Europameisterschaft 2008 wird ebenfalls an diesem Ort stattfinden.

AUSTRALIA

The 2007 Australian Rafting Federation National Championships

The Australian Rafting Federation (ARF) National Championships will be held once again in conjunction with The Cataract Extreme Race 13th and 14th January 2007, Cataract Gorge, Launceston Tasmania . This event will select Men's and Women's teams to represent Australia at the International Rafting Federation (IRF) World Championships on the Naerincheon River , Inje County in South Korea June 27 till July 3rd 2007. At Cataract, it looks as if water will be on, on the 12th Jan 2007, so that's the time for practice maybe by 3 pm. The nearest major airport will be Launceston probably via Melbourne airport.
 
As the winning Women's and Men's teams that will be representing Australia, competency in Grade 4 + White Water is needed so please take this into account for the awesome Esk River's Cataract Gorge is not for the unskilled and will define Australia's best raft teams. The costs must be covered by all teams competing some of those being of Event Insurance, Water from the Hydro Scheme, Raft transport, ARF membership etc. These costs at this stage look to be about $1350 Australian per team, based on six teams competing but as more sign on costs will decrease, so let prospective competitive teams know. We also may have to take into account that ARF memberships may have to increase since they have been at the same level since ARF inception in December 2000 and costs have not decreased.
 
All 7 (6+1) team members must become ARF members prior to competition if they have not already done so and also must hold an Australian Passport or be an Australian resident. Paddlers need to be competent in Grade 4 White water. You need to provide your own safety equipment, provide14-foot (4.3M) raft and paddles included. Although we are working on supplying the rafts, yet it is best you bring your own, I have spoken Melbourne based Bruce about helping out with the rafts earlier this year.
 
Note the presentation party post event with all you Extreme paddlers. We are expecting maximum media attention to the Gorge, one of Australia ’s most outstanding pieces of Extreme White Water.

IRF World Championships - 2003

The IRF World Rafting Championships were held on the Lipno Dam section of the Vltava River in the southern part of the Czech Republic from the 27 to the 31 August 2003.

All the results, photos and press releases! 

TEAMS
Each country was allowed to send their top women's and their top men's team to the event. It was a good turn out with a total of 23 men's teams and 10 women's teams, a new record for women's teams, which bodes well for the future of women's rafting!!!

Danish Rafting Championship 2003

The first Danish Rafting Championship will take place on the 25^th of June 2003. The rafting competition Open Scandinavian Rafting Champs at this year Extreemsportsweek at Voss in Norway (www.ekstremsportveko.com) will count as the Danish Rafting Championship 2003. The best Danish team will be selected to represent Team Denmark for the upcoming IRF World Rafting Championships 2003.

The event is a combined Slalom and Downriver competition. Approximately 2 km (class 3-4) with slalom gates and 4 km (class 3-4) clean downriver run, totalling 6 km.
